What are the requirements to become a driver for OMW?
To become a driver with OMW, you must have the following:
What insurance do I need to be a OMW driver?
There are two types of vehicle insurance you will require to be a driver for OMW:
What is ‘Goods in Transit’ insurance and why do I need it if I already have ‘Hire and Reward’ insurance?
‘Goods in Transit’ insurance is cover for the items you are carrying. If they were to be stolen or damaged, ‘Goods in Transit’ insurance would cover this. You need a minimum cover of £5,000 for a car and £10,000 for any larger sized vehicle. You need this in addition to ‘Hire and Reward’ insurance, as this only covers the vehicle and not the items inside it.
How do I get paid?
We use STRIPE to pay all our drivers. During the onboarding process you will need to create an account in order for us to pay you.
STRIPE is free to set up and requires an existing bank account.
Find out how to set up a STRIPE account here
Will I need to fill in a tax return for my OMW earnings?
All OMW drivers choose how much work they want to undertake and, as such, are paid on a job-by-job basis. This means they work as freelancers rather than being employees of OMW, and, as such, will need to complete a tax return in respect of any earnings they receive from work they undertake for OMW. This can be done by registering with HMRC and can be completed online and is the responsibility of each individual driver and not OMW.
Do I need a uniform?
There is no requirement for a uniform when working as a driver through OMW. However, presenting a clean and professional appearance always gives a good impression.
Some jobs may require certain items of clothing such as:
These requirements will be noted in the job description in the app.:
What skills do I need to become a delivery courier?
